Maha kumbh 2025: The car of a family in Bankura district of West Bengal fell victim to a horrific accident on the night of Wednesday (February 19). The family had left for Prayagraj Mahakumbh bath, but two people were killed while six people, including four women, were injured in the accident on the way. The condition of one of these women remains critical.

Eight members of two families of Ayodhya village in Vishnupur in Bankura district got out of the car for Mahakumbh bath in Prayagraj. After getting away from the house, his car fell victim to the accident near Chowrangi intersection of Kulti police station area on National Highway 19. According to eyewitnesses, the speed of the car was around 70-80 km per hour. Suddenly a lorry hit the car from behind, causing the car’s balance to deteriorate and the car hit a standing container. The collision was so strong that the front part of the car was completely shattered.

Police reached the spot, rescued and sent the injured to the hospital

After the accident, the people present on the spot informed the police. The police immediately reached the spot and sent all the injured to the hospital. Shantanu Mukherjee (65) and Shailan Banerjee (60) died on the spot in this accident. At the same time, Shantanu Mukherjee’s son Saurabh Mukherjee, his wife Mansa Mukherjee, daughter -in -law Ananya Mukherjee (27), Shailan Banerjee’s wife Rumpa Banerjee, relative Shiuli and driver Somnath Chakraborty were injured. It is being told that Shiuli’s condition remains critical.

Bodies sent for post mortem, police engaged in investigation

Police has sent the dead bodies to Asansol District Hospital for postmortem. At the same time, treatment of all the injured is still going on in the hospital. The police is investigating the case and the search for the lorry driver is going on.
