Shivamogga central jail: A surprising case has come to light from Shivamoga Central Jail. A prisoner who was serving a sentence in the case of hemp smuggling allegedly swallowed a mobile phone. 30 -year -old convict Daulat alias Gundu (June 24, 2025) complained to the jail staff of severe abdominal pain.
Gundu told the jail staff that he had accidentally swallowed a piece of stone. After this, he was immediately taken to Macgan Hospital. During the investigation, doctors received a foreign object in her stomach and recommended surgery with immediate effect.
Mobile phone came out of prisoner’s stomach
Doctors got a mobile phone from Daulat alias Gundu’s stomach during surgery, which was one inch and three inches in length. This phone was identified as the mobile phone of the Kachaoda brand. After successfully removing the mobile phone, the doctors handed it over to the jail administration. (July 8, 2025) This action was completed.
Jail officer lodged a complaint
P. Ranganath, Chief Superintendent of Shivamogga Central Jail, lodged a complaint against the accused Daulat at Tunga Nagar police station the very next day. Explain that on the complaint of the Chief Superintendent, a case has been registered against Daulat alias Gundu for bringing a banned item in the jail premises. In fact, in June 2024, the Shivamogga district court convicted Daulat in a drug smuggling case and sentenced him to 10 years rigorous imprisonment.
The investigation has revealed that during the police raid, the prisoner swallowed him in an attempt to hide the phone. After this incident, investigation has started to investigate how the mobiles are reaching inside the jail despite a tough investigation.
