How old is Bellary Central Jail?
Bellary Central Jail is one of the oldest jails in Karnataka. Three jails were built in Bellary. The first jail was built in 1872, which was later named Central Jail in 1884 and was spread on 16 acres of land. The other two jails were made in open air in Alipur village, where political prisoners were kept and sick prisoners were kept in TB sannerium. Alipur and TB Settorium jails have been closed in the last few years.
