Bellary Central Jail of Karnataka is once again under controversy. Pictures going viral on social media have raised serious questions on the functioning of the jail administration. In the pictures, prisoners are seen using mobile phones, cooking non -veg, drinking ganja and taking photographs comfortably. As if it is not a jail but a luxurious resort. The same Bellary Jail is seen in the pictures, where actor Darshan Thugudipa and other accused in the Renukaswamy murder case are also closed.
Attempts to pressurize the jail administration- Jail Superintendent & Nbsp;
According to Jail Superintendent Lata, some prisoners have tried to put pressure on the jail administration by making the old photographs viral. It is alleged that these pictures have been spread with the aim of blackmailing the jail staff and getting more facilities.
Let us know that two accused of Harsh murder case of Shivamoga are also lodged in this jail, due to which the matter becomes more serious. How old is Bellary Central Jail?
Bellary Central Jail is one of the oldest jails in Karnataka. Three jails were built in Bellary. The first jail was built in 1872, which was later named Central Jail in 1884 and was spread on 16 acres of land. The other two jails were made in open air in Alipur village, where political prisoners were kept and sick prisoners were kept in TB sannerium. Alipur and TB Settorium jails have been closed in the last few years.
