‘Property, whom I can want to donate, who can stop’, Kapil Sibal said on the Waqf Amendment Bill

Independent Rajya Sabha MP Kapil Sibal said during a discussion on the Waqf (Amendment) Bill, 2025 in the House on Thursday (April 3, 2025) that he can donate his property to whom he wants; There is no one to stop them. & Nbsp; Former Union Minister Kapil Sibal said, "Suppose I am a Hindu, a Muslim, a Sikh or a Christian and I have some property that I want to donate, then who can stop me, no one can stop."

He said that in the provisions made in 1954 and 1995, it was said that only Muslims can make (donations). No other person can donate his property to the Waqf Board here. The amendment that was brought in the year 2013 ended this ban. Now it has been said in this new amendment bill that only Muslims can give Waqf. He mentioned such court decisions, where Hindus have donated their lands for various projects such as cemeteries etc.

He said that now in the new provision, it has been said that the person donating should be the one who follows Islam from at least five years ago. If this happens, then only he can donate his property (Waqf). & Nbsp; Rajya Sabha MP said that you have made a provision that the District Magistrate will have the full power to take the decision whether any property is of Waqf or not. What will the District Magistrate investigate in this? He himself will decide and his decision will be final.

He said that the people of the ruling party are asking how the Waqf Board can decide, how his decision can be finalized? The decision of what he is in the Hindu Endowment Act is final. There is no objection to you, but if the decision of the tribunal in the Waqf Board here is final, then you have objections.

Responding to Sibal’s words, Minority Minister Kiren Rijiju said, said, "You guys go away with your talk. They go with questions, but do not stop in the House to hear the answer." He said that the independent MP will answer the words when he is present in the House to listen.

The Union Minister said that Kapil Sibal has compared the religious property of four states with the Waqf Board. Waqf is not religious property.

Rijiju said that Kapil Sibal says that the property is his, who is the second law maker. If a trust is formed, who runs the trust. He asked who runs the trust. He said that the trust runs through the rule, there is a law for everyone in the country.
