The Election Commission (ECI) has made public the names of 65 lakh people removed from the draft of voter lists published under the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) in Bihar on Monday (August 18, 2025). Officials have given this information. He informed that the Election Commission is publishing the names of ASD (absent, transferred and dead) voters at all polling stations and it is likely to be done online as per the instructions of the Supreme Court. Supreme court order
Hearing several petitions challenging the special intensive revision (SIR) of the voter list in Bihar, the Supreme Court last week asked the Election Commission to publish details of 65 lakh names removed from the voter list. Also tell them because of not joining, so that transparency in the process can be increased.

Chief Election Commissioner’s statement
Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar said on Sunday that about 22 lakh voters declared dead in Bihar did not die recently, but their death was not recorded earlier. In response to a question, he said that during the previous general revision of the voter list, the calculation forms were not given in every house. Until people inform about the deaths in their families, the booth level officials have no means to know about such cases.
