Puducherry CM on Tamil Language: Amidst the fierce fierce Tamil language, Puducherry Chief Minister N Rangasami said on Tuesday (March 18, 2025) that the government will issue circular to all shops and establishments and instruct them to display their names in Tamil.
On the question of Independent member G Nehru alias Kuppusamy during the Zero Hour in the Assembly, Rangasami said, “Strict instructions will be issued through the circular to ensure that the shop owner displays the name of your establishment in Tamil on the signboard.”
‘This is happening to honor Tamil language’
Kuppusamy emphasized that there should be no relaxation in this matter and urged the government to release a circular with strict instructions to honor the Tamil language. The Chief Minister said that the government has also decided that the invitation letter of all the programs of government departments should also be written in Tamil. He said, “This is being done due to love and respect for Tamil language.”
Let us know that this step of Puducherry has come a few months after the Karnataka government’s order, which said that at least 60% of all commercial signboards should be in Kannada. Apart from this, there is a cross-border fight between the central and state government over three languages ​​in Tamil Nadu.
Rocks will be laid in 24 km area
Earlier, during the Question Hour, Laxminarayanan, Minister of Public Works and Fisheries, told the House that the government will launch rocks in the entire 24 km area of ​​Puducherry coastline as part of measures to prevent the erosion of the coastal area. He said that about Rs 1,000 crore will be required for this project and funds are expected to be received from the Center for its implementation.
