Second day of Punjab Assembly session today.
Today is the second day of the special session called by the Punjab government on floods. About six bills will be passed during this period. Also, there will be discussion and voting on the proposal related to rehabilitation of Punjab.

This proposal is against the BJP government at the Center. At the same time, BJP has kept itself separate from this session. On behalf of the BJP, there will be a ‘public assembly’ in Sector-37 at 11 am today, in which they will put their words against the state government.
At the beginning of the session, the achievements and expenses of FY 2023-24 will be explained under the Punjab Financial Responsibility and Section 6 (1) of the Budget Management Act 2003. It will be compared with the last financial year 2022-23 and placed in the assembly. After this, discussion on the rehabilitation of Punjab will begin.

Proposal against central government The state of Punjab has suffered losses due to floods, which is considered to be the most serious after 1988. More than 20 lakh people were affected by this flood, 5 lakh acres of crop was wasted, livestock lost and heavy infrastructure has also been damaged.
The Chief Minister had demanded a relief package of at least Rs 20,000 crore from the central government. But the amount that the central government had said to give 1,600 crore rupees has not been received by Punjab till now. The Prime Minister’s Office also turned down the request to meet the Chief Minister.
The meeting has decided that the Central Government should be strongly condemned not to give this relief package and not listen to the Chief Minister. The attitude of the Prime Minister’s Office has also been criticized. The package of Rs 1,600 crore has been considered a “cruel joke” as a demand for Punjab.
The meeting has protested against this attitude of the central government and urged that a relief package of at least Rs 20,000 crore should be immediately approved and given to Punjab. Also, this proposal will be sent to the Prime Minister, Union Home Minister and Finance Ministry.

Congress sought irrigation minister’s resignation On the first day, session Congress leader Pratap Singh Bajwa asked that the Center and Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that 12 thousand crores was lying with the Punjab government. CM Bhagwant Mann and Finance Minister Harpal Cheema said that it is 1500 crores. The House should be told whether the Prime Minister is lying or the Chief Minister.
Punjab should be told the truth about this. Bajwa said that the day the Prime Minister came, the Chief Minister lay down in the hospital. Bajwa further said that the entire Punjab has been submerged.
