Farmers Protest: Due to the call of Punjab Bandh, Railways canceled 150 trains on Monday (30 December). This bandh was organized by Kisan Mazdoor Morcha (KMM) and United Kisan Morcha. Farmers are protesting at Shambhu and Khanauri border on Punjab-Haryana border since 13th February..
According to a report published in Hindustan Times, farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal is on fast at Khanauri border since 26th November. Their major demands include legal guarantee of Minimum Support Price (MSP). Farmers have announced to block the railway tracks from 7 am to 4 pm, due to which the movement of passenger and goods trains is likely to be disrupted.
Which trains were cancelled?
The canceled trains include three Vande Bharat Express which run on New Delhi-Vaishno Devi, New Delhi-Amb Andaura and Chandigarh-Ajmer routes. Apart from this, three Shatabdi Express and other high-end trains from New Delhi to Kalka, Chandigarh and Amritsar were also cancelled. Railways decided to partially cancel, reschedule and reroute some trains.
Punjab Bandh causes huge trouble to passengers
Ambala Police has advised the passengers to use alternative routes like Panchkula, Barwala, Mullana, Yamunanagar, Radaur, Ladwa and NH-44 to avoid using the roads blocked due to Punjab Bandh. Due to the bandh, traffic on the roads has been badly affected due to which common passengers are facing huge inconvenience. Many passengers have to travel long distances and their journey is getting delayed.
Farmer organizations have taken a clear stand regarding their demands and said that the agitation will continue until their demands are met. Due to the bandh, not only the traffic has been affected but the general public is also facing many problems.
