9 districts of Punjab are badly affected by floods these days. Many villages and cities have been flooded, which has ruined both people’s houses and crops.

Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressing concern over this situation. He has demanded the central government to release a fund of 60 thousand crore rupees stopped immediately.

CM said that till now more than 1000 villages have been hit by floods and millions of people have been affected. About 3 lakh acres of agricultural land has been submerged. The biggest impact of floods is being seen in Gurdaspur, Kapurthala, Amritsar, Pathankot, Ferozepur, Fazilka and Hoshiarpur districts.

In Punjab, 11330 people have now been evacuated to safe places.

50 thousand per acre ready to give compensation The Chief Minister has requested the Prime Minister to make changes in the rules of SDRF so that farmers can be given compensation of Rs 50,000 per acre on flood damage. Maan also clarified that the Punjab government is ready to give compensation of Rs 50,000 per acre to the farmers, but the consent of the central government is necessary for this.

74% higher than normal rainfall Punjab received a total of 253.7 mm rainfall in Punjab in August 2025, which is 74% more than normal rainfall. In general, Punjab receives 146.2 mm of rain in August.
