1. Question: How is the water sharing in Punjab and Haryana from Bhakra Canal? answer: The Bhakra Beas Management Board (BBMB) is formed for allotment of water from Bhakra Canal. Apart from Haryana and Punjab, Rajasthan is also given water from here. It is under the Union Power Ministry, but it also deploys Haryana officials along with Punjab. Bhakra Dam has about 32 percent of Haryana and should get 4.4 million acres of water. Often the snow melts in early May, then the water starts coming in advance. In Bhakra Dam, the time from May 21 to September 20 is considered to be a dam water filling period, that is, it is the filling of the time dam. The time from September 21 to May 20 is considered to be a dam water deployment period, that is, water is given to the states at this time.

In such a situation, the Prime Minister can order the state to release water using the powers given in Article 257 of the Constitution. 8. Question: If this dispute is not resolved, can Haryana have a big water crisis? answer: The Punjab government has taken this deduction 17 days ago but the officials of the Public Health and Irrigation Department of Haryana say that it can only have a major impact till May 20.
