The Punjab Police thwarted the efforts of the farmers to go to Chandigarh on the call of the United Kisan Morcha for the dharna starting on Wednesday. After stopping from going to Chandigarh, SKM has called an important meeting for the movement strategy in Ludhiana.
According to the information, SKM has called a meeting in Ludhiana at 11 am on March 7 after the police stopped going to Chandigarh. In this meeting, further strategy for the movement will be discussed.
Demonstration at 18 places in Punjab
Actually, farmer leaders called for Chandigarh Cooch on 5 March. But the police took many farmers trying to go to Chandigarh into custody. Also, protests were held at 18 different places in Punjab, which will continue till Friday.

According to the report of the news agency, SKM, an organization of more than 30 farmer organizations, had called for a sit-in in Chandigarh in support of various demands of farmers, including the purchase of 6 crops on MSP, but the police established several check points and stopped the farmers in the morning by tractor-trolleys and other vehicles to Chandigarh and stopped the farmers at many places on highways and other roads. After this, the protesters shouted slogans against the Bhagwant Maan government.
Permission will not be given to go to Chandigarh: Police
Deputy Inspector General of Police (Ropar Range) Harcharan Singh Bhullar said that the protesting farmers will not be allowed to reach Chandigarh at any cost. Bhullar said, ‘Wherever a farmer (on the streets) came out, the police of that area stopped him there. They were sitting there peacefully. The situation in Punjab is completely peaceful.
The DIG said that some farmers have been detained. He said that there is good coordination between Punjab Police and Chandigarh Police.
The SKM strongly condemned the AAP government to prevent farmers from going to the Union Territory to raise their voice in support of their demands. SKM leaders claimed that police took many farmers into custody while going to Chandigarh, while many others started protests where they were stopped.

According to farmers, SKM leader Joginder Singh Ugrahan was detained in Sangrur. A heavy police force has been deployed to prevent farmers from going to Chandigarh in Gharachon area of ​​Sangrur. Barricades have been installed to prevent farmers from going to Chandigarh and trucks loaded with sand have also been parked.
Jatinder Singh, District President of the Revolutionary Farmers Union in Moga said that the police stopped him in Ajitwal while going to Chandigarh. He claimed that some of them were also detained by the police.
What are the demands of farmers
Explain that SKM is demanding to withdraw the draft of the National Policy structure on agricultural marketing, give legal guarantee to the MSP, implement the state’s agricultural policy and procure six crops including Basmati, Maize, Moong, Potato on MSP.
Farmers ‘organizations are also demanding a law for debt solution, ownership of land plowing to ensure canal water to every farm, payment of sugarcane, forced acquisition of land for Bharatmala projects and also demanding jobs and compensation to the families of farmers who lost their lives during the farmers’ movement in 2020-21.
