BBC lawyers have filed their reply in the court in the hearing on the ongoing dispute over the documentary of Sidhu Mouswala.

The BBC has clearly stated that the right to broadcast and stop the documentary is only with the BBC UK, as this documentary has been released there. Therefore, the law of India does not apply to this.

The BBC has also demanded that reporter, producer Ankur Jain and Mumbai -based BBC office should not be made a party in this case.

It was also argued by the BBC that the documentary would not have any effect on the investigation or court process of Sidhu Musala Murder Case.

Now the next hearing of the case will be held on 21 July 2025, in which lawyers of the Mouswala family will present their stand in the court.

Father has given this argument in court

Father Balakaur Singh has argued that ‘Sidhu Mosewala’s investigative documentary’ has shown sensitive, unpublished and unauthorized materials without permission.

He said that this documentary includes individual witnesses and comments related to the current criminal investigation related to murder, which can not only interfere in the investigation process, but it can also cause disturbance in the public.

Balakaur Singh also claimed that the documentary is violating the family rights, privacy and dignity of the late son.

Now the next hearing of this case will be held on 21 July 2025, in which lawyers of the Muswala family will present their case.

Telling Sidhu’s story in the documentary

BBC has released 2 episodes of the documentary “da Killing Call” on Sidhu Mosewala on 11 June. It has been released despite the objection of Sidhu’s father Balakaur Singh.

In this case, he has also filed an application in the court, the first episode of the documentary has shown controversies related to Mouswala’s early life, fame and his career. At the same time, his murder is shown in the second part.

The documentary has interviews of several journalists, their friends and 2 officers of Delhi and Punjab Police. The video also features gangster Goldie Brar’s audio message. Goldie Brar is accused of conspiring to assassinate Mousala in village Jawahar Ke of Mansa district on 29 May 2022.

No role in BBC India’s documentary On the last hearing, advocate Bhatia told the court that BBC India had no role in the construction of the documentary. His role was limited to screening plans only in India. The documentary has been released by BBC World Service on YouTube and has been seen globally on social media.
