Jagannath rath yatra 2025: During the world famous Jagannath Rath Yatra on Friday (27 June 2025) in Puri, Odisha, due to excessive crowds gathered, there was a situation of suffocation, due to which the health of more than 500 devotees deteriorated. Some devotees were admitted to the hospital for treatment. Due to the evening, pulling the chariot was stopped in between. On Saturday (28 June 2025), devotees will resume their journey for Srigundicha temple.
Many people deteriorated health
It is being told that during this journey, a large number of devotees had reached a large number of devotees to draw a chariot on the Grand Road. Thousands of devotees ran together to touch the rope of Taldhwaj Rath. Devotees tried to pull the chariot towards the Gundicha temple, about two and a half kilometers away, when the health of many people deteriorated due to the heat and crowd.
With the commencement of the main part of the Rath Yatra festival on Friday in Puri, Odisha, thousands of people pulled the ropes associated with the chariots of Lord Jagannath and his siblings towards the Shri Gundicha temple. Sri Gundicha Temple is about 2.6 km from the 12th century Lord Jagannath Temple.
Lord Balabhadra’s Taldhwaj Rath moves forward in the evening
Governor Hari Babu Kambhampati, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi and many other dignitaries were among those who pulled the chariots of Lord Jagannath, Goddess Subhadra and Lord Balabhadra. Lord Balabhadra’s Taldhwaj chariot moved forward at the first evening between Jai Jagannath and Hari Bol’s announcement and the sound of the cymbals, trumpets and conch shells.
After this, Goddess Subhadra’s Darpadalan chariot and finally the Nandighosh chariot of Lord Jagannath left. This chariot journey is 9 days. God rides on the chariot and reach the Srigundicha temple and after stopping for 7 days, he comes to his temple again.
