Bihar is going to get the fourth airport of the state soon. After Patna, Gaya and Darbhanga, now people of Purnia district are also going to prove to be true. In fact, the construction of civil terminal at Purnia Airport has been approved by AAI i.e. Airport Authority of India. The flight will be started by creating an interim terminal in just four months at Purnia Airport.
Actually, in the third phase of Pragati Yatra, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar visited Purnia. During his visit, the Chief Minister not only announced separate schemes worth Rs 581 crore but also reviewed the development work of Purnia Airport.
The Chief Minister had instructed the officials to expedite the work, after which now the Airports Authority of India (AAI) has approved the construction of the terminal building. That is, soon Bihar is going to get another new airport gift.
Construction will be done at 23 percent lower cost
Under the tender issued by AAI, this terminal building will be constructed at a total cost of 33.99 crore. This amount is less than the estimated cost of Rs 44.15 crore. As part of the tender process, the first bid was opened on 12 September and the second bid on 27 September. Now the selection process of the terminal making agency is in the final stage, after which the work will start.
Purnia Airport will be equipped with modern facilities
Let us know that the architect of AAI has already designed the design of the civil airport in Purnia. This airport will be equipped with “State of the Art” facilities and is designed keeping in mind the next 30-40 years of passenger footfall. A total of five aerobridges will be built at this airport, which will give better connectivity to the passengers.
Interim terminal will be built on porta concept
Prior to the construction of the main airport terminal at Chunapur, Purnia, an interim terminal building will be prepared on the Porta concept, so that the operation of flights can be started soon. According to AAI, DGM (Engineering) has been appointed in charge of the project and the contractor has been instructed to complete the contract as soon as possible. The construction agency will have to submit a performance guarantee of 1.69 crore and a security fund of 88.30 lakh. Along with this, labor laws will also have to be strictly followed at the workplace.
Work accelerated after Pragati Yatra
In view of the demand of Purnia Airport, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar held a review meeting with the officials during the Pragati Yatra. In the meeting, the CM gave necessary guidelines to all the parties and the concerned officials to remove the obstacles coming in the construction of the airport.
People of Nepal including Seemanchal, Kosi also benefit
This terminal construction is an important step for Purnia Airport, this will clear not only the Kosi and Seemanchal region but also the people of West Bengal, Jharkhand and Nepal to get direct air facilities. As soon as the interim terminal is completed, the process of starting air travel will be expedited, which will provide convenience to local passengers and will also boost the economic development of the area.
