Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday dismissed the ceasefire proposed by the Maoists, saying that if the extremists want to surrender and launch weapons, they will be welcomed and the security forces will not fire a single bullet on them. Shah also assured a grand and profitable policy for surrender and rehabilitation of Naxalites.
Conflict stop proposal rejected
Shah said, ‘Recently a letter was written to spread confusion, which said that what has been so far is a mistake, a ceasefire should be declared and we (Naxalites) want to surrender. I want to say that there will be no ceasefire. If you want to surrender, there is no need for a ceasefire. Put weapons, not a single bullet will run.
Rehabilitation policy for those surrenders
He said that if the Naxalites want to surrender, they will be given a grand welcome with a ‘profitable’ rehabilitation policy. Addressing the concluding session of the seminar held on ‘Naxal -free India’, Shah targeted leftist parties to give ideological support to leftist extremism. He dismissed the argument that Maoist violence was due to lack of development. Shah said that it was due to ‘red terror’ that development could not take place in many parts of the country for many decades.
Emphasis on ideological support of Naxalites
Shah said that many people believe that stopping the killings being done by Naxalites is enough to end Naxalism from India. But he clarified that Naxalism developed in India because its ideology was nurtured by the people of the society.
He said, ‘Why did Naxalite problems arise in the country, increased and developed? Who gave him ideological support? Till the Indian society does not understand this, the idea of Naxalism and those in society who provided ideological support, legal support and financial assistance, the fight against Naxalism will not end.
Identification of those who nurture Naxal ideology
Shah said, “We have to identify those people and understand those who are continue to nurture the Naxal ideology.” The Home Minister also claimed that the country would be free from Naxalism by 31 March 2026.
