The atmosphere of Europe is hot these days. The reason is the battle of Russia and Ukraine. A new twist has now come in the fight which has been going on since 2022. Russian leader Vladimir Putin has given a condition that if Ukraine gives his Donbas region to him, the fight will stop. The Russian army has been controlled some time ago on the large part of this area coming to eastern Ukraine. Now Moscow wants his official seal on it.
Recently, Trump and Putin met in Alaska. During this time there was talk about Ukraine and then Moscow kept his conditions. In exchange for ceasefire, Russia wants Ukraine to name his eastern part in him. Donatsk and Luhansk visit this area of the Donnets River. Both are jointly called Donbas. Why Russia wants Eastern Ukraine capture
Putin has been laughed for a long time over the mineral filled Donbas. It can prove to be a kind of lottery not just a piece of land. Actually, Donbas is an area rich in coal and many types of minerals. There are heavy industries and factories, which can become a big economic force for Russia.
Donbas also holds strategic importance. This part in the East of Ukraine is adjacent to the Russian border. If this entire area comes under the possession of Russia, then Russia will get a buffer zone for safety and Ukraine can be pushed towards the West.
Donbas has a high percentage of Russian speakers who consider themselves close to Russia. According to the last census, about 75 percent of the population of Donatsk involved in this speaks Russian. They are also associated with Russia culture. In 2014, before the Russia-Ukraine struggle, people here advocated to maintain good relations with Russia. Although the distance of both countries increased after the struggle, during this time people of this region started connecting more with Russia.
After Crimea met in Russia in the year 2014, people here openly started coming in support of Moscow. There was also a heavy war between the Ukrainian army and the Russian supporters.
There are many separatist groups here, which keep movement in favor of Russia. Apart from Donatsk, Luhansk is also full of separatists supporting Russia. Even the separatists of these areas had announced to separate themselves from Ukraine. Ukraine considers him his territory, while Russia continued to air his rebellion. A few years ago, the fighters here declared themselves as the People’s Republic, who considers itself a part of the Russian Federation.
