New Delhi. Former off -spinner of the Indian cricket team, R Ashwin, was recently accused of ball tempering in a league. It was complained about him that he had tampered with the ball. The Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA) said on Wednesday that Sechem Madurai Panthers withdrew the ball tampering allegations against R Ashwin -led Dindigul Dragons. The panthers accused the dragons of tampering with the ball using a chemical towel during the Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) match in Salem on 14 June.

TNPL CEO Prasanna Kannan said, ‘After proper discussions, the management and coaching staff of the Panthers team have decided to withdraw the complaint in view of the widespread interest of the game and the smooth operation of the tournament. He further clarified that the objective behind the complaint was not to discredit Dindigul Dragons captain R Ashwin, Dindigul Dragons Team, Match Officers, TNPL or TNCA. Ashwin, the captain of Dindigul Dragons and the biggest players of the tournament, was accused of tampering with CKM Madurai Panthers. Ashwin was accused of ball tampering in the 11th match of the TNPL 2025 season on 14 June when both teams were face to face and Dindigul easily defeated Madurai with 9 wickets and 45 balls remaining. However, after the match, Madurai Panthers CEO D Pooja wrote a letter to TNPL to accused Ashwin of tampering with the ball. He claimed that the all -rounder used some kind of chemical on the towel to tamper with the ball and provide unfair advantage to his team.

D. Pooja wrote, ‘A serious case of ball tampering came to light against Dindigul Dragons during our recent match. Despite repeated warnings, Dindigul’s team tampered with the ball, they used towels that seemed to be treated with chemicals. Our technical team is also investigating other possible methods used by bowlers and fielders to tamper with the ball. We will present a detailed report of our findings.
