Auction will be held on 30 September
Ravichandran Ashwin has registered for the upcoming LT20 auction. The auction will be held in Dubai on 30 September while the tournament will be played in UAE from 2 December to 4 January. In a special conversation with Cricbuj, Ashwin said:
Yes, I am talking to the organizers. Hopefully, if I register for auction, I will find a buyer.
The league used to use a draft system for the recruitment of players earlier, but the organizers have introduced the auction system this year. You will remember that Ashwin shocked everyone in December 2024 by retiring from all the formats of international cricket. Now on August 27, suddenly he also covered her boria bed with IPL.
Dubai Capitals won the title by defeating Desert Wipers in the final in the last season of this tournament, which has completed three editions so far. MI Emirates, Gulf Giants, Abu Dhabi Nitteriders, Sharjah Warriors, Dubai Capitals and Desert Wipers are the team playing in this league.
Ashwin took 187 wickets in 221 IPL matches and was the fifth highest wicket -taker in the history of the tournament. 38 -year -old Ashwin started his IPL journey both with his domestic franchise Chennai Super Kings, with which he also won the trophy twice in 2010 and 2011.
If Ashwin is selected in auction, he will become the biggest name of Indian cricket playing in the UAE League. Robin Uthappa and Yusuf Pathan have already been selected, but they have not yet made their debut while Ambati Rayudu is the only Indian player who has got a chance to play, he played eight matches for MI Emirates.
Plan to play T20 league around the world
It is likely that Ashwin may have received some assurances from the teams before deciding to participate in the league. Ashwin is looking at the role of players-cum-coach in the International League and it is almost certain that he will play Major League Cricket (MLC) in the US next year and The Hundred in England.
