Today is the 55th birthday of Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi. Today, Rahul has shifted to the type ‑8 bungalow built in Golden Bagh Road. This bungalow has been allotted to him as Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha.

The Parliamentary Housing Committee gave him the option of 5 Sunhari Bagh Road, 7 Motilal Nehru Marg and 3 Krishna Menon Marg Bungalow. Out of which Rahul chose the golden garden.

Earlier, Rahul lived in 10 Janpath with Sonia Gandhi. In 2023, he vacated the 12 Tughlaq lane bungalow. Which he had 19 years. But after going to Sansadi, the bungalow had to be vacated.

Why is a bungalow built on Golden Bagh Road

The bungalow that Rahul has received is in Lutyens Zone. There are many big politicians, ministers and judges bungalows here. This bungalow has been allotted to the first senior cabinet ministers or heads of the Commission.

This is a high security area. The area of ​​the bungalow is close to 2000 to 3000 square meters. The bungalow consists of 4 to 5 big bedrooms and offices. There is also a meeting hall, private lawn, security room, staff quarter and car parking.

Why had to leave the bungalow with Tughlaq Road

On 27 March 2023, Rahul was sent a notice to the Lok Sabha Housing Committee to vacate the government house of 12 Tughlaq Road. The time was given till 24 April 2023 to vacate the bungalow. The next day after receiving the notice, Rahul sent a written reply to Dr. Mohit Ranjan, Deputy Secretary, Lok Sabha Secretariat.

Rahul wrote in his reply- I was elected a Lok Sabha MP 4 times. This is the mandate of the people, for which I am thankful to the people. There are many good memories associated with this house of mine. I will follow the order given in the notice. Rahul was allotted this bungalow in 2005 after being elected an MP from Amethi for the first time in 2004.

23 March 2023: Rahul gets punished in defamation case
