Today is the 55th birthday of Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi. Today, Rahul has shifted to the type ‑8 bungalow built in Golden Bagh Road. This bungalow has been allotted to him as Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha.
The Parliamentary Housing Committee gave him the option of 5 Sunhari Bagh Road, 7 Motilal Nehru Marg and 3 Krishna Menon Marg Bungalow. Out of which Rahul chose the golden garden.
Earlier, Rahul lived in 10 Janpath with Sonia Gandhi. In 2023, he vacated the 12 Tughlaq lane bungalow. Which he had 19 years. But after going to Sansadi, the bungalow had to be vacated.

Why is a bungalow built on Golden Bagh Road
The bungalow that Rahul has received is in Lutyens Zone. There are many big politicians, ministers and judges bungalows here. This bungalow has been allotted to the first senior cabinet ministers or heads of the Commission.
This is a high security area. The area of the bungalow is close to 2000 to 3000 square meters. The bungalow consists of 4 to 5 big bedrooms and offices. There is also a meeting hall, private lawn, security room, staff quarter and car parking.
It has enough space for big meetings, media conferences and political activities, which is according to the needs of Rahul Gandhi as a leader of the opposition.
Why had to leave the bungalow with Tughlaq Road
In fact, on 23 March 2023, the Surat court sentenced him to 2 years imprisonment in the defamation case. However, he also got bail shortly. The next day, Rahul’s Lok Sabha membership was canceled. On 27 March 2023, he was given notice to vacate the bungalow.
After receiving the notice, Rahul had said that many of his good memories are attached to the government bungalow. Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge then suggested him to shift to him or Sonia’s bungalow.
On 27 March 2023, Rahul was sent a notice to the Lok Sabha Housing Committee to vacate the government house of 12 Tughlaq Road. The time was given till 24 April 2023 to vacate the bungalow. The next day after receiving the notice, Rahul sent a written reply to Dr. Mohit Ranjan, Deputy Secretary, Lok Sabha Secretariat.
Rahul wrote in his reply- I was elected a Lok Sabha MP 4 times. This is the mandate of the people, for which I am thankful to the people. There are many good memories associated with this house of mine. I will follow the order given in the notice. Rahul was allotted this bungalow in 2005 after being elected an MP from Amethi for the first time in 2004.

23 March 2023: Rahul gets punished in defamation case
This video of Rahul is from Surat Airport on 23 March. The decision of Surat court came on this day.
The court of Surat sentenced Rahul to 2 years imprisonment on 23 March. However, he got bail after 27 minutes. He made a statement about Modi surname at the Karnataka meeting in 2019. It was said- Why is Modi’s surname of all the thieves. After this, BJP MLA Purnesh Modi of Gujarat filed a defamation case against Rahul.
24 March 2023: Rahul’s Parliament membership canceled
Rahul reached Lok Sabha on the morning of 24 March, here he spoke on the Adani issue.
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s parliament membership was canceled at around 2.30 pm on March 24. He was a Lok Sabha member from Wayanad, Kerala. The Lok Sabha Secretariat issued a letter and informed about this. Rahul’s name was also removed from the Lok Sabha website.
In fact, the Supreme Court had said in a 2013 judgment that if any MP or MLA is found guilty in the lower court, it would be disqualified for membership of Parliament or Assembly. Under this rule, Rahul’s parliament membership has been canceled.
25 March 2023: Rahul holds a 28 -minute press conference
After going to Sansadi, Rahul held a press conference on 25 March. Rahul said, ‘BJP tries to divert attention. Sometimes we will talk about OBC, sometimes talk about the statement given abroad. These people cannot stop me by canceling my membership. Whether I get membership, do not get it, I will do my work. Even if they disqualify me permanently, I will do my work. 26 March 2023: Congress performed Sankalp Satyagraha across the country
The Congress conducted a resolution satyagraha across the country on 26 March against the cancellation of Rahul Gandhi’s Lok Sabha membership. Big leaders like Priyanka Gandhi, Mallikarjun Kharge, Adhir Ranjan reached Rajghat in the morning. Priyanka Gandhi said that till date we have been silent, then you kept insulting our family. 27 March 2023: Rahul gets notice to vacate bungalow
The opposition shouted slogans in front of the Gandhi statue in Parliament.
The Lok Sabha Housing Committee sent a notice to Rahul to vacate the bungalow on 27 March. The committee asked him to vacate the government residence of 12 Tughlaq Road by 22 April. On this, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge said, ‘If Rahul vacates the bungalow, you can go to your mother or come to me. I will vacate a bungalow. ‘
