Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Sunday launched a scathing attack on the Modi government over the recent violence in Ladakh. He said that the Union Territory is on the target of BJP and RSS. The Congress leader supported the demand of Sonam Wangchuk, who is jailed and called upon the Center to include Ladakh in the sixth schedule of the Constitution.
In fact, on September 24, a peaceful protests under the leadership of activist Sonam Wangchuk became violent when the protesters set fire to the local BJP office and some vehicles on fire and vandalized. The police lathi -charged after a clash between the protesters and the security forces. 4 people died and about 80 people were injured in this violence.
Claving Wangchuk and his inflammatory statements for the violence, the police arrested him under the National Security Act (NSA) and lodged in Jodhpur Central Jail. However, after the violence, Wangchuk ended his 15 -day fast on Tuesday and appealed to the supporters to avoid violence.
‘People of Ladakh are amazing’
Regarding this, Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi has surrounded the central government. He wrote on X on Sunday, ‘The amazing people, culture and traditions of Ladakh are on the target of BJP and RSS. Ladakhis raised their voice. The BJP responded by killing four youths and putting Sonam Wangchuk in jail.
Speaking at a press conference in Leh on Saturday, Ladakh DGP SD Singh Jamwal revealed that the police had arrested a Pakistani PIO (intelligence officer) who was allegedly in touch with Wangchuk.

At the same time, the Ministry of Home Affairs alleged that the mention of Arab Spring and Nepal Jane Z protests by Wangchuk spread anger in the crowd, resulting in the local BJP office and some government vehicles on fire in Leh.
Meanwhile, Rahul Gandhi targeted the government for the behavior of Wangchuk, the state status and the protesters seeking to include Ladakh in the sixth schedule. He claimed that the government was scaring the people of the Union Territory and should stop doing so.
He said in his tweet, ‘Stop killing. Stop violence Stop threatening Give the voice to Ladakh and include them the sixth schedule.
Sonam Wangchuk protest
Wangchuk, known for his activism in Ladakh, started an indefinite hunger strike on September 10 demanding constitutional guarantee, excess autonomy, state status and sixth schedule status for Ladakh.
To this, the government said that the Committee (HPC), with regional groups such as Leh Apex Body and Kargil Democratic Alliance, is running channels parallel to negotiations through subcommitting and informal meetings.
On Thursday, on Thursday, the government, citing several violations of the Act in view of the violence, canceled the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act license of Students Educational and Cultural Movement of Ladakh (SECMOL), established by Wangchuk.
Meanwhile, the Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist) Liberation condemned the arrest of Sonam Wangchuk, saying that this has exposed the government’s agenda.
