The heavy rains in Mumbai have stopped the speed of the city. Rail, bus, air services have been badly affected due to waterlogging and bad weather. Mono rail service has also affected heavy rains. Due to technical fault and rain in the eastern suburb of Mumbai, a monorail got stuck on the elevated track. Passengers sitting inside it were rescued with the help of crane.
The Mumbai monorail service between Chembur and Bhakti Parks was interrupted at around 6:15 pm on Tuesday evening. The passengers sitting in the monorail faced heat and suffocation, as the air conditioned was not working due to the disruptions of the power supply and all the gates were closed. Passengers immediately approached the helpline number 1916 of Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation for Emergency Help. Taking immediate action, the Mumbai Fire Brigade team reached the spot and started the rescue with the help of three snorkel vehicles.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said, ‘Due to technical reasons, a monorail is stuck on a monorail track between Chembur and Bhakti Park. MMRDA, Fire Brigade and BMC, all agencies have reached the spot. The safety of all passengers is being given top priority. Therefore, no one needs to worry or panic. All passengers will be evacuated safely. I request everyone to maintain patience. I am in touch with MMRDA Commissioner, Municipal Commissioner, Police and all concerned agencies. The cause of this incident will also be investigated.
The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) said in an official statement that a monorail train near ‘Mysore Colony Station’ stopped on Els Wailed Tracks due to disrupting electric supply. MMRDA said, “Our operation and maintenance teams are already present on the spot and are working to fix it as soon as possible.”

MMRDA further said, ‘Currently, services between Wadala and Chembur are running smoothly on the single line. We thank you wholeheartedly for your patience and assure you that your safety is our top priority. Stay relaxed, general services will be restored soon.

The route of Mumbai Monorail is 20 kilometers from Chembur to Sant Gadge Maharaj Chowk. The main stations of this route are Chembur, Wadala and Sant Gadge Maharaj Nagar. Monorail Service started in Mumbai in 2014. It was constructed to improve public transport in Mumbai. The fare of monorail is a minimum of Rs 10 and a maximum of 40 rupees. The route of monorail is very small, but it saves a lot of time for those living around Chembur and daily from Wadala.
