After the case came to light, the Shillong Police initially started their investigation by considering it as a case of looting. The king’s call details were investigated, but no clue was found. But as soon as the police started investigating Sonam’s call details, a needle of suspicion started to roam. His call details found such important clues that the entire case was opened. Sonam was constantly talking on the number of Raj Kushwaha of Indore.
The Meghalaya Police claimed that there is a love affair between Sonam and Raj. She wanted to marry her. But under the pressure of the family, he had to marry the king. It was only after marriage that Sonam started work on the conspiracy to remove the king from the road. On May 21, all the accused came to Guwahati. The Meghalaya Police came to know on June 3 and 4 that Sonam was involved in the murder. The police arrested Raj Kushwaha from Indore. Vishal alias Vicky Thakur, who was involved in the conspiracy, was caught from Indore, while Akash Rajput was arrested from Lalitpur in UP, Anand was caught from Bina in Madhya Pradesh. After this, Sonam surrendered in Ghazipur. At first she kept creating a false story of kidnapping. But the Shillong police thwarted this trick of Sonam.
Shillong Police reached Meghalaya with all the accused on transit remand. When Sonam was questioned there, he pretended to be unknown first. Police asked, “Why did the king get killed?” Sonam was silent first and then said, “I did not commit any murder, I was kidnapped.” But when the police showed proof of CCTV footage and his presence with betel nut, Sonam broke. He confessed crying, “Yes, I know all three and I killed the king.”
The police got Sonam and lover Raj face to face. The police have strong evidence against the accused. CCTV footage with bloody Sonam jackets from the crime scene, CCTV footage with rented murderers and Sonam’s stay in contact with her mother -in -law before and after murder expose all these evidence. Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police of Indore Rajesh Dandotia said, “We have come to know that Sonam (after the king’s murder) came to Indore from Meghalaya. Between 25 to 27 May, the city’s Dewas Naka stayed in a rented flat in Naka area. It is likely that Meghalaya Police is going to bring him to Indore.”
