In 2008, the way of Tahwwur Rana coming to India, convicted of Mumbai terror attacks, seems to be clear. India said on Friday that it is in touch with American officials to arrange Rana’s surrender. Rana has tried all the legal routes in America and he has been disappointed everywhere. In January, the Supreme Court of America approved Rana’s extradition to India and now India is talking to American officials to surrender his surrender.

Foreign Secretary Vikram Egypt has given this information in response to a question asked on Rana’s extradition. He said, ‘I think you must have known from recent developments that Rana has tried all the legal routes in America, the US Supreme Court has also rejected his appeal. Therefore, we are now in touch with American officials so that Rana surrenders to Indian officials. As soon as further information will be available on this particular matter, we will tell you.

On January 21, the US Supreme Court rejected Rana’s review petition, which cleared the way for his extradition to India.

India had also said earlier that it is working with American officials for Rana’s early extradition.

Foreign Ministry spokesman Randhir Jaiswal had said, “We are now working with the American side to extradite the accused of Mumbai terrorist attack soon.”

Rana has lost a legal battle in many courts in America

Pakistani -origin Canadian businessman Tehwwur Rana is accused of playing a major role in the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks. Regarding this, India shared information with American agencies which were placed before the lower court and the Supreme Court.

The Supreme Court of America accepted the evidence given by India and dismissed the petition of Tahavvur and approved its extradition.

Earlier, he had appealed against extradition in several courts including the US Appeal Court for North Circuit in San Francisco but his appeal was rejected everywhere. Tehwavur Rana is currently in custody at the Metropolitan Detention Center.

Pakistan’s link to ISI, Rana is also associated with Lashkar-e-Taiba

In 2008, the Chargesheet that had filed the 22/11 terror attacks by the Mumbai Police is the main accused in the charge sheet. Tehwwur is accused of being associated with Pakistan’s intelligence agency ISI and terrorist organization Lashkar-e-Taiba. It is alleged that Rana had helped David Coleman Headley, the mastermind of the Mumbai attacks.

In the charge sheet, the Mumbai Police accused Rana of Reiki of the attack and prepared his blueprint and handed over to Pakistani terrorists.

What happened on 26/11

On 26 November 2008, 10 Lashkar militants entered Mumbai by the sea and made such a blast that the metropolis had shocked. Terrorists exploded at 9 places in which 8 areas were from South Mumbai- Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus, Oberoi Trident Hotel, Taj Hotel, Leopold Cafe, Cama Hospital, Nariman House, Metro Cinema, Times of India Building and St. Xavier’s College area. There were also a taxi explosion in Mumbai’s Port Area Majhgaon and Vile Parle.

Mumbai Police and security forces secured almost all areas from terrorists till the morning of 28 November, but they could not catch the terrorists hiding in the Taj Hotel. To catch him, he had to seek the help of the National Security Guards (NSG), who also killed the terrorists hidden in the Taj Hotel by running the ‘Operation Black Taurnado’ on 29 November. The panic period in Mumbai lasted for 72 hours. A total of 166 people, including 6 American citizens, died and more than 300 people were injured in the Mumbai attacks.
