Kannada and Tamil film actress and half -daughter of Ramchandra Rao, Ranya Rao, has been arrested in Bengaluru for smuggling gold from Dubai. Ranya was caught late in the night with a 14.8 kg foreign gold worth Rs 12.56 crore at Kempe Gowda International Airport in Bengaluru. On this incident, his father Ramchandra Rao said that he is “surprised” and that “Ranya does not live with us.”
Actress Ranya Rao’s father Ramchandra Rao is the Director General of Karnataka State Police Housing Corporation. He said, “When such an incident came to my notice through the media, I was also shocked and desperate, I was not aware of any of these things, like any other father, I am in shock.”

‘Ranya does not live with us, stays different’
The actress’s IPS father Ramchandra Rao said, “She (Ranya) is not living with us, she is living separately with her husband, some family issues should have some problems between them. Well, the law will do its work, there is no black stain in my career. I do not want to say much more than this.”
Charge one lakh rupees for bringing one kilo of gold
According to sources, Ranya traveled to Dubai about 30 times in the last year and has brought gold every time India. She used to escape from security by sticking gold on her body and hiding in her clothes. During her visit, she used manipulated jackets and waistband.

The investigation so far has revealed that Ranya was earning 1 lakh rupees on 1 kg smuggled gold and used to earn up to 12-13 lakh rupees in a journey. Due to the eyes of DRI, Ranya was being monitored. He was detained while returning from Dubai. Officials said that repeatedly those going to Dubai are carefully examined as per DRI rules.
