NCRTC (NCRTC) has successfully completed the entire timetable trial run of Namo Bharat trains from Sarai Kale Khan to Modipuram under India’s first Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) project. The train completed this 82 km journey in less than an hour, which led to its system examined.
Trial run of the entire corridor of RRTS completes
During this trial run, the Namo Bharat trains ran smoothly on the entire corridor at a maximum of 160 km/h. Stopping at all stations as per rules, the train fully followed the scheduled time. Along with this trial, the trains of Meerut Metro were also operated on the same route, and all technical systems did accurate work.
ETCS Level-3 hybrid signaling system installed by NCRTC performed at this level for the first time globally and it was completely successful. Platform screen doors (PSDs) are also working successfully at all stations.
Metro-RRTs on the same track
Currently, the 55 km share of Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut Corridor has already been operational for passengers, including 11 stations. The remaining work and trial run on the remaining 4.5 km (Sarai Kale Khan to New Ashok Nagar) and 23 km (Meerut to Modipuram, Meerut) continues fast.
The trial run of Meerut Metro is also going on between Meerut South to Modipuram depot. This is the first system in the country where rapid rail and local metro services are being provided on the same track. This metro rail section is 23 km long with 13 stations, including 18 km elevated and 5 km underground.
