A rare -long -mouth wine is found in the Dudhwa Tiger Reserve spread over Lakhimpur Kheri and Bahraich districts in Uttar Pradesh. Forest officials have given this information. This rare snake has been seen for the first time in the state and the second time in the country.
He said that this discovery was made during the campaign to release rhinoceros in Palia Kheri Division on 28 March, when the officials were cleaning the termites for security, then this lively green snake appeared. Field biologist Vipin Kapoor Saini and a team of researchers identified the species.
Earlier, Ahetullah Longirostris was seen only once in Bihar and Odisha last year. Officials said that this species is usually found in Southeast Asia. Saini said that this discovery will pave the way for more research on this species in the coming year. The snake was carefully handled and left in a nearby termite mound. The officials left the original mound without teasing.
Dr. H. Raja Mohan, the field director of Dudhwa Tiger Reserve, appreciated this discovery and described it as evidence of the ecological residence of the reserve. He said, ‘Dudhwa keeps highlighting its hidden treasures. Ahetullah exposes the importance of Longirostris ‘Rediscovery Sustained Research and Habitat Conservation.’ Dr. Rangaraju T., a patron and Deputy Director of Dudhwa Tiger Reserve, has described it as an important achievement for Indian wildlife conservation.
He said, “Kakraha rhinoceros in South Sonaripur highlights ecological signifikins of the smallest units like Ahetullah Longirostris in the reproduction area-1 of South Sonaripur, which provides significant shelters for rare species.”
