On Friday, about 600 people fell ill due to the scorching heat and congestion during the Rath Yatra in Puri. Many people had to be hospitalized. According to Puri CDMO Dr. Kishore Satpathy, many people complained of minor injuries, vomiting and unconsciousness, mainly due to congestion.
Many people were discharged after initial treatment. There were no casualties. About 70 people are undergoing treatment at the district hospital in Puri, out of which 9 are in critical condition.
Here, the Rath Yatra will start again at around 10 am after Mangla Aarti and Khichdi Bhog. Lord Jagannath, Balabhadra]will go to Gundicha temple at aunt’s house with Subhadra, about 3 km away.
On July 5, Lord Jagannath will return to the main temple with siblings. Last year also a situation was created when the Rath Yatra lasted for two days.

The Jagannath Rath Yatra started at 4 pm on 27 June. Maharaja Gajapati Divya Singh Dev of Puri completed the ritual of Chhera Pahera by putting a boar with a gold broom in front of the chariots. Elephant uncontrollable in Ahmedabad caused a stampede
