India’s Defense Minister Rajnath Singh (Rajnath Singh) participated in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) meeting in Port City Qingdao, China. This is the first visit of a Defense Minister after a serious tension in relations after military deadlock over the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in Eastern Ladakh in May 2020. During this, Rajnath Singh spoke on many important issues including terrorism, peace and security. He said, “I believe that the biggest challenges in our region are associated with peace, security and lack of trust and the root cause of these problems is increasing fundamentalism, extremism and terrorism.”
Rajnath Singh said, “Peace and prosperity cannot remain co-existence with terrorism and the spread of weapons (WMD) of collective destruction in the hands of non-state actors and terrorist groups. Decisional action is needed to deal with these challenges and we should unite in our fight against these evils for our collective security.”
