In the 2015 assembly elections, Rekha Gupta contested from Shalimar Bagh seat, but lost by 11,000 votes. In 2020 too, he contested the assembly elections from Shalimar Bagh, but lost by four and a half thousand votes. After this, in the year 2022, a councilor was elected from Shalimar Bagh-B ward. Rekha Gupta contested Shalimar Bagh assembly elections in 2025 this time, won and is now going to take oath as Chief Minister of Delhi.
There were many contenders for CM post
There were many contenders for the post of CM in Delhi. After defeating the big leaders of the Aam Aadmi Party, there were many such candidates of BJP, whose name was being taken for the post of Chief Minister. The first name among the big contenders for the post of CM was that of Parvesh Verma, who defeated Arvind Kejriwal from New Delhi Assembly seat, followed by Rekha Gupta. At the same time, the names of Vijendra Gupta and Satish Upadhyay were also in discussion.
