Recently, the information that was spreading on social media about the poster of ‘I Love Mohammed’ in Kanpur is completely wrong. This lie gave rise to stress and protests by spreading like fire in many parts of the country.
After the prayers of Jumme, some people of the Muslim community came out with the posters of ‘I Love Mohammed’ around Bareilly’s Al Hazrat Dargah. On seeing this, this protest changed into violent conflict. The protesters stoned the police, after which the police had to lathi -charged. Many people were also arrested after this incident.
At the same time, Raza Academy and MSO have filed a petition in the Delhi High Court, which has recently demanded action against the filing of cases in support of ‘I Love Mohammed’ and protests against the arrest of people. He argues that showing love and respect to Prophet Mohammed is a personal and religious feeling, if someone does this and maintains peace, he should not be considered a crime.
What is the whole matter of Bareilly?
Maulana Tauqir Raza Khan, the head of Ittehad-e-Millat Council, announced a demonstration in support of the ‘I Love Mohammed’ campaign. But due to lack of approval from the administration, he postponed the protest on one occasion. When people got the news of the cancellation of the protest, they got angry and gathered near the mosque and outside Raza’s house.

The administration had already told them in writing that they would need written permission to do so, as Section 163 BNS is applicable in the entire district. Nevertheless, after Friday prayers, some people came out on the streets and tried to disturb the peace. After this, the magistrate and the police immediately took strict action and forced people to return to their homes.

What did SSP Anurag Arya of Bareilly say?
Bareilly SSP Anurag Arya said that there was no major disturbance throughout the day. The prayers of Jumme were safely concluded at almost all the places in the district. It happened only in the Kotwali area, where around two and a half, people started gathering on the call of gathering at Islamia Ground and insisted on going there at various intersections.
He said, the administration informed everyone through meetings at various places that permission has not been received at Islamia Ground, neither from the government, nor from the administration, nor from the police. Despite this, those who came, misbehaved with the police and stoned. When people did not agree, the police drove the crowd as per their training, using minimum force.
The SSP said that a detailed investigation is being done to find out who was directly involved. Strict action will be taken against them.
He also informed that firing has also been reported. Those who were involved in calling, gathering people and misleading the police administration, strict action will also be taken against them.
False claims and their truth
Claim 1: An FIR was lodged against nine nominees and 15 unidentified people for putting posters in Kanpur.
Truth: This is completely wrong. The Kanpur police themselves denied that no FIR was registered on the poster of I Love Mohammed. Action was taken to deliberately instigate and incite the wrong place.
Claim 2: Muslims in India are being prevented from speaking ‘I Love Mohammed’ against their fundamental rights.

Truth: This is also wrong. The cases in which action were taken, it took place on the procession or march without permission. Any person or leader requires the permission of the administration to rally or march on the road. Action without permission is equally for all, not based on any religion or political aspect.
Claim 3: The police is preventing posters on the houses.
Truth: This claim is also wrong. In many states, posters of ‘I Love Mohammed’ are installed on homes and they were not removed. The permission of the administration is necessary to put up posters only in public places.
