Resham Kaur, wife of BJP leader and famous Sufi singer Hans Raj Hans, died on Wednesday. She was 62 years old and was ill for a long time. He breathed his last while undergoing treatment at Tagore Hospital in Jalandhar. Her family is survived by her husband Hans Raj Hans and two sons Yuvraj Hans and Navraj Hans.
Resham Kaur’s brother Paramjit Singh informed that his last rites will be performed in Safipur village on Thursday. The news of his death raged a wave of mourning among family, friends and fans.
Political leaders expressed mourning
Many big political leaders expressed grief over the death of Resham Kaur. Union Minister Ravneet Singh Bittu wrote on the social media platform X (first Twitter), ‘… Waheguru should give peace to the departed soul and give the family the power to bear this deep sorrow.’
BJP national general secretary Tarun Chugh and Shiromani Akali Dal leader Daljit Singh Cheema also mourned. Cheema wrote, ‘Resham Kaur ji’s death is a huge loss for the whole family. He played an important role in the life of Hans Raj Hans. She was a woman of religious nature and always stood with her family. I pray to God to give peace to the departed soul and give the family the power to bear this irreparable damage.
Hans Raj Hans’s political journey
Hans Raj Hans contested on a BJP ticket from Faridkot parliamentary seat last year, but did not get success. Prior to this, he has been an MP from North West Delhi.
