The Delhi Parents Association has thanked the state government on the announcement of the bill for controlling arbitrary increase in private school fees. At the same time, the anger of millions of parents of Delhi is now on the tongue regarding the increase in fees. The Delhi Parents Association on Tuesday wrote a letter to Lieutenant Governor Vinay Kumar Saxena, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta and Education Minister Ashish Sood, making four big demands against the arbitrariness of private schools.
What are the four big demands of parents?
The Parents Association has demanded that the fees should be refunded without any permission. Also, parents allege that many schools increased the fees of 2024-25 and 2025-26 without the approval of the Education Department. Now this extra fee should be withdrawn with interest.
Transparency in PTA and draft of education bill should be public
The existing PTA should be dissolved and new, correctly chosen PTA should be made. It is alleged that by choosing from school Google form, the favorite people sit. The government had talked about bringing ‘Delhi School Education Transparency in Fixation and Regulation of Fees Bill 2025’. Parents want its draft to be public so that everyone can present their side.
Ban on cutting children’s names
Aparajita Gautam, president of Delhi Parents Association, says that we have also demanded the government about dictatorship like taking children out of class due to fee dispute. Mental harassment like removing these children from the group or preventing sports should be stopped and the government should issue strict orders on it.
Where is the case stuck?
Parents say that the fees bill announced by the government on April 29, it has not been implemented yet nor has any action shown. In such a situation, schools are increasing the fees from their own will and if the parents resist, then the children are targeted. The association says that this is not just fees, but the issue of transparency and mental health of children. Developed Delhi will be formed only when there will be accountability in schools.
