Protests against Shahbaz government in Pakistan occupied Kashmir (POK) are in full swing. Violence erupted during the protest against the Government of Pakistan in Muzaffarabad, in which 2 people died and 18 others were injured. A video was also played for this Hisank demonstration on Pakistani news channels, in which police are seen firing and protesting slogans. It can be clearly seen in the video how pistols are being fired indiscriminately on Kashmiris.
Shahbaz government deployed security forces
In protest against the violation of fundamental rights, POK has been holding mass protests for the last few years. The Awami Action Committee (AAC) called a strike to protest at PoK on Monday (29 September 2025). In view of the anger of the people, the government of Pakistan has deployed a large number of security forces in this area. At the same time, to stop the crowd, the internet was banned from night on Sunday (28 September 2025).
What is the demands of protesters?
The Awami Action Committee has 38 demands from the Government of Pakistan, including the abolition of 12 seats reserved in the PoK assembly for Kashmiri refugees living in Pakistan. Local people argue about this that this representative weakens governance. Apart from this, the people there have also taken to the streets against inflation, unemployment and excesses of the Pakistani army.
People of Pok warns Pak PM
AAC leader Shaukat Nawaz Mir said, “Our campaign is for the fundamental rights that have not been given to our people for 70 years … Either get rights or face the anger of the people.” Warning Pakistan Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, he said that the patience of the people has responded and the officials have now become alert. He said that AAC also has backup and strict plan.
The army has strictly responded to this protest. The Pakistani army is conducting a flag march in PoK towns with heavy weapons. 1,000 additional soldiers have been sent from Islamabad.
