The Supreme Court has refused to hear the application of the family of the victim of the victim case of Kolkata RG. The court has asked them to appeal to the High Court. The victim’s parents say that even though the main accused Sanjay Roy has been punished, there are many aspects related to the incident, which have not been revealed yet. The family has also accused the family of eradicating many important evidence in the case.
The victim’s parents had earlier filed a petition in the Calcutta High Court demanding further investigation, but the court refused to hear. The court said that the matter is pending in the Supreme Court, so it is necessary to get permission from there. A petition has been filed in the Supreme Court on this.
According to the report of Live Law, on Monday (March 17, 2025), Senior Advocate Karuna Nandi filed a petition of the victim’s parents in front of Chief Justice Sanjeev Khanna. He said, ‘In the last hearing, I was asked to take permission from the victim’s parents and today they are present in the court here. The petition has argued that according to the convenience of the forum, the single bench of the High Court should be allowed to continue the proceedings and the High Court should be instructed to order the CBI to investigate.
CJI Sanjeev Khanna said on the argument of Advocate Nandi that we cannot say who will investigate, but we can just say that your petition is allowed to listen to the single bench. He said that we will not comment on the petition, but are rejecting it and the victim’s parents are free to file a writ petition in the High Court. During this, Solicitor General Tushar Mehta was also present in the court, who appeared on behalf of the CBI. He said that some comments have been made in the petition, which he has not responded. On this, Advocate Nandi said that those comments have been removed.
