New Delhi. Indian team ODI captain Rohit Sharma is ready to return to international cricket from the ODI tour against Australia at the end of the year. He has passed a pre-season fitness test at the BCCI Center of Excellence in Bengaluru on Sunday. Rohit was not in action since the IPL 2025 season. Many questions were being raised about him in the last few days. Responding to all the critics, he passed his fitness test and put an end to the speculation of retirement from ODI.

Rohit announced his retirement from Test cricket while playing for Mumbai Indians during the IPL this year. It was announced two weeks before the team selection meeting of England tour. From then on, the news of his retirement from international cricket started coming out. The BCCI had confirmed in his social media post at the time of Rohit’s Test retirement that he would continue to be the ODI captain. After the end of India’s Test series in England in August, the situation in his ODI format raised questions. A media report even indicated that he could retire from 50 overs cricket after the Australia ODI tour in October.

He has not yet responded to these rumors. Rohit has passed the mandatory fitness test according to a PTI report. After retiring from Test and T20I, Rohit currently has no assignment, but he can visit Australia in October. For this preparation, he can play for India A against Australia A in Kanpur on 30 September, 3 and 5 October in three ODIs.

The captain of India will have to wait for the confirmation of the selection for the tour. The report said, “Rohit can stay in the city for a few more days and take training.”
