The world’s number one ODI batsman Gill will be seen debuting as a captain in ODI against Australia in Perth on October 19. The decision of removing Rohit from the captaincy of ODIs came as a captaincy in ODIs. Rohit has not yet issued any statement after losing the captaincy of Team India, but chief selector Ajit Agarkar said that it was difficult to keep three different captains for three different formats, so he decided to hand over the team to Gill before the 2027 ODI World Cup.

Rohit scored a total of 648 runs for the Indian team in the 2019 ODI World Cup. In the 2023 ODI World Cup, he scored 597 runs in 11 matches. Rohit’s name also holds the record of scoring the most runs in a version of the ODI World Cup as captain.
