Former India’s assistant coach Abhishek Nair has revealed how he helped KL Rahul play with a more aggressive thinking, as Captain Rohit Sharma requested him. In the last six months, Rahul has shown great form. Nair, who was removed from the coaching staff earlier this year, said that preparing Rahul for a strategic change was the result of a long conversation for him.
Rahul’s style changed at the behest of Rohit Sharma
In a conversation with ESPN, Nair said, “When I took the role of coaching, I had a conversation with Rohit. He especially told me that it is necessary to work with KL and bring aggression in his game, so that he could get the best performance from him. Rohit was confident that Rohit was confident that KL Rahul was full of confidence that KL Rahul Champions Trophy, World Cup, Border-Gavaskar Trophy and England Tests will play in the upcoming competitions.”

Nair-Rahul partnership starts
Nair said that Rahul knew that the series against Australia could be decisive for his career. Earlier, he was dropped from the next two matches after flopping the first Test against New Zealand. Nair said that he spoke to Rahul for hours and tried to convince him that a change in the strategy is necessary.

He said that Rahul told me what he has been doing so far and has worked for him before. My thinking was quite different from that. There was a long conversation between us. Gradually, I brought them to such a point to trust me. Nair said that after Rahul’s brilliant innings in the first Test against Australia, there was a tremendous increase in his confidence. Rahul told Nair that now cricket feels like a music for him.
