Air India aircraft (AI-171) crashed shortly after flying from Ahmedabad to London on 12 June (Thursday). The aircraft had 242 people including crew members. The aircraft reported 169 Indians, 53 British, 7 Portuguese and one Canadian citizen.
After this shocking incident, the pain of veteran cricketer and former captain of the Indian team Virat Kohli has suffered. Virat Kohli wrote on Instagram, ‘I am shocked to hear about the plane crash in Ahmedabad today. Prayers for all the affected people, as well as my condolences to their families.
On the other hand, India’s ODI team captain Rohit Sharma has posted an emotional post on Instagram. Rohit Sharma wrote, ‘Very sad and distracted news from Ahmedabad. My prayers for those killed in this incident and their families.
Team India’s head coach Gautam Gambhir has also expressed grief over this accident. Gambhir wrote on X, ‘I am deeply saddened by the tragic accident in Ahmedabad. Our condolences and prayers are with all the people affected by this tragedy.
Regarding this incident, Team India fast bowler Mohammad Siraj wrote on X, ‘What happened in Ahmedabad today is sad and I am very sad. Life is very valuable, my condolences to all families affected by this incident. God should give peace to the soul of the dead. Also, in this difficult time, give strength to their families, friends and loved ones.
Former Team India cricketer Virender Sehwag wrote, ‘Knowing about this aircraft accident has broken heart. I have deep condolences and prayers for all those affected by this fierce incident.
Let us know that before the upcoming Test series against England, Rohit Sharma-Virat Kohli (Roko) had said goodbye to the biggest format of cricket. On May 7, Rohit Sharma first announced his retiring from Test cricket. Whereas on May 12, Virat Kohli also announced to separate from this format.
On the other hand, Mumbai Indians (Mi) captain Hardik Pandya is also shocked to hear the news of this incident. Hardik Pandya wrote on X, ‘Hearing about the incident in Ahmedabad was heartbroken. I pray for the affected families and wish them power.
Former Team India captain Sourav Ganguly is also very sad with this accident. Sourav Ganguly wrote on X, ‘I am very sad due to the plane crash in Ahmedabad. My prayers are with the affected families and loved ones. May God give them strength in this hour of grief.
The Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau of Investigation (AAIB) will investigate the accident. An official informed the news agency PTI about this. The official said that others including the Director General of AAIB and the Director of Investigation in the agency will leave for Ahmedabad. AAIB under the Ministry of Civil Aviation is responsible for classifying incidents related to safety of aircraft operating in Indian airspace. It conducts detailed investigations of accidents and also suggests various measures to improve security.
