Chaudhary Charan Singh University of Meerut is once again in the headlines. This time the matter is related to a question of the second semester of MA Political Science, which created a big controversy. Students had objections to two questions question number 87 and 93. These questions are being severely criticized on social media. In fact, in the examination paper, the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) was associated with Naxalites and terrorist organizations.
Students associated with the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) objected to the question asked in the paper and spoke to the university faculty. However, the first students were stopped from closing the gate and going to the registrar’s office. After which the students protested and also raised slogans. Later, there was talk of students and other officials including the registrar.
There was a question in MA Political Science paper- “Which of the following is not considered a nuclear group?” In response, four options were given- Naxalite group, Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front, Dal Khalsa and Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh. There was an uproar on social media as soon as this question came out of the paper. People got angry after seeing this and started raising questions as to why a nationalist organization was kept with terrorist or militant organizations.
The university administration immediately came into action after seeing the dispute growing. Strict action was taken against Professor Seema Panwar, who prepared this question. Seema Panwar is a professor of political science at Meerut College and is said to be the wife of famous poet Hariom Panwar’s brother. The university has removed him from examination and evaluation work. That is, now she will neither be able to make paper nor will she be able to participate in any work related to it. University Registrar Dhirendra Verma said that the professor has accepted his mistake and apologized in writing. He said that if someone’s feelings were hurt by his question, then she apologizes for this.
There is a lot of debate on this matter on social media too. People are asking why such questions were made in the university. Many people say that this may have been done with some special intention. At the same time, some people are considering it as negligence. In view of the dispute, the university has announced to start an investigation into the entire matter. The registrar assured that strict steps will be taken to ensure that there is no such mistake in future.
Professor Seema Panwar clarified that she had made the paper according to the course, but after the dispute she had apologized. She apologized and wrote that if someone’s spirit is hurt, then she apologizes for her. At the moment, this matter is hot and people are giving their opinion on it. The university administration has now become cautious about the fact that full care should be taken in preparing the questions from further questions.
