The political storm has arisen after Maharashtra’s Revenue Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule’s announcement of merging 14 villages in Telangana into Maharashtra. After this, there has been a panic among political parties. Telangana itself is unhappy with this decision of BJP, Maharashtra.
Telangana Bharatiya Janata Party spokesman N.V. Subhash, while reacting to the matter, has advised Maharashtra to take a clear and fair stand on the controversial resolution to merge 14 border villages of Telangana in his area.
Telangana government protects the interests of regional integrity
Talking to ABP, BJP Telangana chief spokesperson and media in -charge N.V. Subhash said, ‘The Maharashtra government’s intention to merge these villages is a serious issue. It is necessary for the ruling Congress government led by Chief Minister Revanth Reddy to clear its position and protect the interests of Telangana’s regional integrity.
The statement came in response to Maharashtra Revenue Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule’s comment on Wednesday (July 16, 2025), in which he claimed that his government has started the process of merging 14 villages along the Telangana-Maharashtra border. Bawankule further said that Maharashtra has revenue records of these villages and claimed that these villages are voters of Maharashtra.

Reacting to these claims, Subhash said, “Even though the claims made by Maharashtra are recorded in the documents, it is the duty of the Telangana government to examine the validity of these claims, start negotiations with the Maharashtra administration and most importantly, keep in mind the opinion of the local people.”
What is people’s response?
Residents of Asifabad district are also angry with Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule’s statement. He says that he has been in Telangana for many years and still intends to stay here. Haridas Motiram Pacifying, a resident of the village where Maharashtra is likely to be merged in Asifabad district, says that we will remain in the state of Telangana, we have no relation with Maharashtra.
The people of Asifabad district have clarified that they have no relation with Maharashtra and they will remain in Telangana. Villagers say that their Aadhaar card, ration card and the right to vote are all in Telangana, then there is no question of going to Maharashtra.
Telangana Congress leader said this
Asifabad Congress leader MK Arifuddin strongly condemned the statement that it is the old habit of the BJP to impose a decision on the people of Telangana without knowing the opinion of the people of Telangana, but the Congress is the government of the people. Therefore, without knowing their opinion, the government will not take any decision in this matter by itself.
He told that the public opinion is most important for us and the people of the village also want to stay in Telangana. We will give importance to his decision and talk to the Chief Minister and facilitate him to stay here.
