A Russian -origin woman and her two younger daughters were rescued on 9 July from a dangerous cave located in the forests of the Ramatirtha hill area in Gokarna, Karnataka. Police found that she was living there under dangerous circumstances. Officials later confirmed that the woman, who was identified as Nina Kutiina (40), stayed there for more than eight years from her visa period.

According to the Gokarna police, at around 5 pm on July 9, when they were patrolling the Ramatirtha hill to investigate the safety of tourists, the police inspectors and employees of the Gokarna police station gathered and examined the cave inside the forest area on the hill. It was learned that Russian -origin foreign woman Nina Kutina (40 years) was living with her two younger daughters Kumari Prema (6 years 7 months) and Kumari Ama (4 years).

Foreign woman wanted to meditate by staying in the forest

On questioning, the foreign woman told that she has come from Goa with her children, because she wants to worship and meditate on God by staying in the forest. Police found that the cave was located in an area where landslides could have occurred and was surrounded by poisonous wildlife, which posed a serious threat to the family. After telling about the dangers, the woman agreed to leave.

The Russian woman and her two young children were safely lowered from the cave situated on the hill. Then, as per her wish, she was rushed to the ashram of Yog Ratna Saraswati Swamiji (80 -year -old woman Swamiji), associated with a voluntary organization called Shankar Prasad Foundation in Bankikodlu village of Kumta taluka under the protection of women policemen. Initially, Anchork in telling his identity, after informing the police, women and child welfare department and Swamiji, said that the passports and visas of her and her daughters have gone missing.

The Superintendent of Police of Karwar (Uttara Kannada) approached the Foreign Regional Registration Office (FRRO) in Bangalore. Necessary steps are being taken to send the woman and her children back to Russia. They are currently under the supervision of the Women’s reception center for safety. Officials said that the woman and her daughters will be produced before the FRRO in Shantinagar, Bengaluru under the supervision of a woman police officer for further legal action.
