The first match of the five -match Test series between India and England began from 20 June (Friday) at the Headingley Cricket Ground in Leeds. Sai Sudarshan has also got a chance to participate in this match from the Indian team, this is Sai Sudarshan’s debut Test match. Sudarshan was handed over the test cap by Cheteshwar Pujara. Sudarshan is the 317th player to play Test for India.
However, 23 -year -old Sai Sudarshan could not do anything special in his debut innings. Sai faced only 4 balls and he kept walking on Duck (0). On the fourth ball of the 26th over of the innings, Sai Sudarshan was caught by English captain Ben Stokes by wicketkeeper Jamie Smith. Sudarshan tried to play a flick shot off the leg-stump ball. The timing of the shot did not sit right and the ball went to Smith’s right side, where he did not make a mistake in catching the catch.
If seen, this is the first time in Indian Test history, when no batsman could even open his account while batting on number-3 in the debut Test innings. Also, Sudarshan has also become the third Indian, who was out on 0 while batting in Top-3 in Test Debut innings. Krishnamachari Srikanth and Dewang Gandhi have also achieved these unwanted achievements. Both players went on to open their debut in Test innings. Sudarshan is the 29th Indian to be dismissed on Duck in a debut test innings.
