Mumbai Police is continuously investigating the deadly attack on Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan. The Crime Branch team has recorded Saif’s statement in this case. Before this, the statements of his wife Kareena Kapoor and the house staff have been recorded. Police sources said that in his statement, Saif has told about the entire incident, from the attack by the Bangladeshi infiltrator to his efforts to save his family.
In this way, through the investigation done so far in the case, statements of people and interrogation of the accused, the entire story of that night has now become clear. According to the police, on the night of 16 January, accused Mohd. Shariful Islam Shahzad reached Saif’s Sadguru Sharan apartment at around 1.30 pm. The actor lives in a duplex on the 11th and 12th floors of this building. The accused climbed over the boundary wall from behind and entered inside the compound.
After this, avoiding the eyes of the people, he reached the first floor with the help of a duct pipe. From there went to the 10th floor via stairs. After this he reached the 11th floor with the help of duct pipe. Opposite where he landed, there is a bathroom window of Saif’s house. This bathroom is connected to Saif’s children’s room. After this, the accused went straight from there and hid in the bathroom of Saif’s son Jahangir’s room.
Actually, there is no grit on the bathroom window of Jahangir’s room. There is a rat-mesh here, that is, a net to stop rats. Shariful had removed that net. At around 2.30 in the night, Saif’s nanny Eliama Philip reached there after seeing the bathroom light on. When she saw an unknown person in front of her, she was shocked. As soon as the accused saw him, he signaled him to keep quiet. Then he said that if he made any noise, it would be bad.
On this, Nanny Eliama Philip asked the accused who he was and what he wanted, to which he said that he wanted one crore rupees. With this he started moving towards the child Jahangir who was sleeping in the room. Seeing this, Philip started making noise. Saif and Kareena, who were sleeping in their bedroom on the 12th floor, woke up after hearing noise inside the house. He came down hurriedly. By then the rest of the house had also woken up.
Accused Shariful got scared after seeing so many people. Seeing her moving towards Jahangir, Saif Ali Khan caught her in his embrace. He started struggling. After this, to free himself from their grip, he took out a knife from the bag and started attacking Saif. There Eliama tried to stop him, but he was unable to control him. During this time Naini also got injured with a knife. Someone controlled the accused.
Everyone locked the accused in a room. But he exited Saif’s flat through the window of the room through which he had entered. After this he again reached the 10th floor with the help of the duct pipe. Then went down the stairs to the first floor and again through the duct pipe into the backside. At last he again climbed the boundary wall and jumped out. He came from the back way, so he did not come in the sight of the guards.
After this, the accused went to Patwardhan Garden bus stop, about a kilometer away from Saif Ali Khan’s house. Kept sleeping peacefully there for three hours. Waking up in the morning, he went to Bastian Restaurant on Link Road. There he changed his clothes. Then reached Bandra Talao. He had the handle of a broken knife, the tip of which was broken and stuck in Saif’s back. The accused threw her in a street near Bandra Talao and left.
According to the statement given by Saif Ali Khan to the police in this matter, this incident took place on the 11th floor of his society. The apartment on the 11th floor has three bedrooms. Saif and Kareena live in one. His son Taimur lives in the second house and his younger son Jahangir lives in the third house. When this incident happened, he and Kareena were in their bedroom. That means Kareena Kapoor Khan was not out anywhere but she was at home.
Saif says that he heard someone screaming from outside, after which he came out of his bedroom. He saw that an unknown person was standing near his son Jahangir’s room. Jahangir is crying. Seeing this, when Saif tried to catch the attacker, he attacked him. After this he absconded from there. When he was injured, Kareena and her other employees were present with him.
