The Hindu side based its 95 page petition on two books and one report. Rishi Raj Giri, the Mahant of Kailadevi temple, claimed that the Shahi Jama Masjid is the Sri Harihar temple. There is much evidence of a temple in the mosque. It is here that Lord Vishnu’s Dashavatar Kalki is to be incarnated. Shahi Jama Masjid is situated in Kot East of Sadar Kotwali area.
On November 19, 8 people reached the court regarding the matter and filed a petition. Among them, Supreme Court lawyer Harishankar Jain and his son Vishnu Shankar Jain are prominent. Both of them are also looking into the cases of Taj Mahal, Qutub Minar, Mathura, Kashi and Bhojshala of Dhar district of Madhya Pradesh.
Apart from these, the petitioners also include lawyer Partha Yadav, Mahant Rishiraj Giri of Banana Temple, Mahant Dinanath, social workers Vedpal Singh, Madanpal, Rakesh Kumar and Jeetpal Yadav. The Hindu side claims that this place used to be the Shri Harihar Temple, which was demolished by Babar in 1529 and converted into a mosque.
