There was no deal about the Ukraine war in the conversation between Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin in Alaska. The US, which repeatedly threatened to impose additional restrictions on Russia, its President Donald Trump warmly welcomed Putin on the red carpet. Now his party MP Lindsay Graham has threatened Russia.
Will ruin Russia’s economy: Graham
Senator Lindsay Graham has said that America should use its economic power against Russia to end the war in Ukraine. He urged President Donald Trump to increase the tariff on countries buying Russian oil. In an interview to Fox News, Lindsay Graham said, “My advice to President Trump and External Affairs Minister Marco Rubio is to explain to Putin that if the war does not end, we will destroy the Russian economy. We have so much power that we can do so.”
Russia accused of kidnapping Ukrainian children
Lindsay Graham also accused Russia of kidnapping more than 20,000 Ukrainian children. He warned that if Russia does not return them, they will insist on enacting laws to declare Moscow a sponsor country of terrorism. Ukrainian officials estimate that the actual number of kidnapped children may be close to 35,000.
Putin came to meet Trump due to tariff on India
The American senator has supported the bill under which Trump will be able to impose up to 500 percent tariffs on those countries who are still buying Russian energy. Referring to the imposition of 50 percent tariff for purchasing Russian oil on India, Lindsay said that this was the reason that Russian President Vladimir Putin agreed to the Alaska summit last week.
Advice given to European countries
He said that Europe should also increase its response by implementing strict steps on Russian oil and gas buying countries instead of being dependent on American action. He told the European Union, “To benefit Putin’s war machine, put tariffs on every country that buys Russian oil and gas at cheap prices. Do what they are trumping.
