SC strict on bulldozer action in Prayagraj, ordered to give 10-10 lakh compensation to petitioners

Supreme Court News: The Supreme Court has ruled on Tuesday (April 1) on the bulldozer action held in Prayagraj in 2021. The court has ordered a compensation of Rs 10 lakh to 5 petitioners to Prayagraj Development Authority. This compensation will be given within 6 weeks. The court also said that it was wrong to demolish the house within 24 hours of receiving the notice and it is considered illegal.

The court said that this compensation is also necessary so that in future, governments can avoid demolishing houses without proper process. The judges also cited a video recently revealed, in which a girl was running away from the falling hut with her books.

Ambedkar Nagar video was viral

In fact, on March 23, a video of Ambedkar Nagar in Uttar Pradesh became increasingly viral on social media, in this viral video, a girl is seen running towards her hut during the action of a bulldozer. The girl approaches the hut and comes out quickly with her books.

Supreme Court had given a similar decision earlier

Earlier, on March 7, the Supreme Court once again reprimanded the Uttar Pradesh government for bulldozer action. The victims said that the state government accidentally accepted their land as the property of gangster Atik Ahmed. Due to this, the houses of a lawyer, a professor and three others were dropped in Prayagraj.

During this time, the Supreme Court had said that the state government will rebuild the houses which have been accidentally demolished. If you (Attorney General) want to challenge this, you can fight a legal battle by filing an affidavit.
