Schools Closed: The snowfall in the mountains has increased the chill in the plains. Severe cold and cold wave in North India have increased the problems of the people. Life is being affected in Gautam Buddha Nagar due to severe cold and dense fog. In view of the continuous fall in temperature and increasing cold, the district administration, giving priority to the safety of children, has ordered the closure of schools up to class 8 of all the boards.
Earlier, the administration had tried to provide relief from the cold by changing the school timings, but this decision was taken in view of the problems being faced in commuting to school due to the rapid drop in temperature and fog in the morning.
When will schools open again?
District Magistrate (DM) Gautam Buddha Nagar has currently issued instructions to keep all government, private and aided schools closed from January 2, 2025 till further orders. This order will especially apply to students up to class 8. However, no update has been given regarding the school opening date. Physical classes can remain postponed till January 12 and schools can be reopened from January 15.
The DM has requested the school management and parents to follow this order and take necessary steps to protect children from cold. Apart from this, the administration has appealed to the people to help the needy and provide them warm clothes, blankets etc.
According to the Meteorological Department, this outbreak of cold may continue for the next few days. The administration has advised citizens to exercise caution and leave their homes only for essential purposes. Amidst the increasing cold in Gautam Buddha Nagar, this step is being considered a commendable effort towards ensuring the safety of the students.
