New Delhi. Shardul Thakur is back in the Indian Test team and on Sunday 15 June, he made a strong claim for selection in India’s playing XI for the first Test against England. According to the report of the Indian Express, 33 years of Mumbai’s right-handed batsman scored an unbeaten 122 in the ongoing Intra-Squad match. Shardul scored the second most runs for the most successful team in the history of Ranji Trophy and dismissed 35 batsmen in nine matches.
Shardul made a Test debut for India in Hyderabad on 12 October 2018 and has dismissed 31 batsmen in 11 matches played so far. He has a five -wicket hall in his five -day format. With the help of four half -centuries in 18 innings, he has scored a total of 331 runs. The 33 -year -old cricketer has played four Tests for India in England and has 173 runs and 10 wickets. In his last Test on England soil, which was played against Australia at the Oval from 7 to 11 June 2023, he scored a half -century (51) in the first innings.
Gill, Rahul and Sarfaraz affected
India’s new Test captain Shubman Gill and opening batsman KL Rahul scored a half-century on the first day of the Intra-Squad match, and on the second day Sarfaraz Khan scored a century in 76 balls. While Rahul is ready to open for India in the Test series. Gill is expected to bat at number 4 in the first foreign series of the 2025-27 World Test Championship (WTC) cycle, but Sarfaraz is not part of the 18-member Test team.
