There has been a stir after strict action by the district administration against encroachment in Sambhal district of Uttar Pradesh. The owners of 22 illegal shops and buildings built from Hayat Nagar to Bahjoi Road demolished their constructions themselves. This action is being done under the road widening scheme of Public Works Department (PWD).
In fact, the administration declared all these shops and buildings illegal and issued notices to them. It was said that the encroachment of up to nine feet should be removed itself, otherwise administrative action will be taken. After this, most of the owners started action themselves and demolished their constructions.

The most shocking step was taken by BJP official Jai Prakash Gupta. He voluntarily dropped his 70 -year -old shops. Talking to the media, Gupta said, “After getting the order of the government, we have broken the construction of up to nine feet, ie nine feet six inches without any opposition.” Today we have completed work.
The administration says that this campaign is being run for the purpose of road widening and traffic ease. Officials have clearly stated that strict action will be taken against those who do not voluntarily remove construction.
The local public has given a mixed reaction to this action. Some people described it as necessary steps for development, while some shopkeepers have raised the demand for compensation.
