Shubman Gill Reportedly Unwell: The health of the Indian team’s Test captain Shubman Gill has deteriorated. For this reason, they will not be able to play in Dalip Trophy.
According to Cricbuzz, Shubman Gill was recently examined by Physio. BCCI was informed about his health a day before. 25-year-old Gill has returned as the vice-captain in India’s T20I team. However, Gill is expected to fit for the tournament. Due to illness, he will leave the Dalip Trophy, which started the domestic cricket season. He has been made the captain of the North Zone.
Gill was expected to leave the red-ball tournament as part of the Asia Cup. The Dalip Trophy 2025 will start from August 28 and end on 15 September. The Asia Cup starts on 9 September when Afghanistan will face Hong Kong in Abu Dhabi. This meant that Gill could play in the initial round of the Dalip Trophy. Now he is expected to miss the entire tournament.
Gill’s replacement ready
The selectors of the North Zone had already nominated Shubham Rohilla as Gill’s replacement in view of the possibility of such a situation. Ankit Kumar was nominated as the vice-captain, now he will handle the captaincy in the absence of Gill.
